As the saying goes, a task well begun is half done. Test planning and strategizing lay the framework for the success of any testing project. Our GEMSt framework has several invaluable offerings in the area of test planning and test strategy. The major offerings are:

Risk-based test strategy framework:

Test strategy is a balance between the test effort to be exerted and the test coverage to be attained to cover the identified risks.

The risk-based test strategy framework factors in the customer's time, budget, and resource constraints, in addition to considering the product maturity, development methodology, and process maturity in formulating a test strategy.

Risks are expressed in terms of quality characteristics and prioritized. Suitable test design techniques are employed to measure the quality characteristics. Further, suitable test levels, test types and cycles of execution are devised as a part of the test planning phase to attain the desired objectives of coverage and earliest possible detection of defects.

Test Estimation Model

Our proprietary test estimation model is yet another GEMSt offering that delivers significant business value to customers. The model is generic in design and can be used to estimate various categories of testing scenarios such as Functional (black-box), UI-based, database-related, and white-box.

The model factors in parameters such as levels and complexities of test items to arrive at the estimates. The productivity figures per level and complexity of testing are dynamically obtained from our Process Assets Repository that houses processed and refined metrics information from years of our testing experience.
